at the Hamburg Travel Fair in 2003.

Nesting boxes are erected on four Öresund Bridge piers to attract peregrine falcons.
80 x 60 cm large boxes are placed on piers on the Swedish side, approximately 20 m above the sea.
The boxes offer broad views of the bird´s hunting grounds.

The Öresund Bridge wins the international IABSE Outstanding Structure Award.
The event is marked by a plaque at the abutment of the bridge on the artificial island Peberholm.
In their conclusion, the judges point out that the Öresund Bridge has benefited from its innovative planning,
design and construction management. IABSE also noted the project´s compliance with the time schedule,
budget and tough environmental requirements.

4,466 runners out of a total of 5,322 from 23 nations complete the 2003 Bridge Run.
For the first time, the run started on the artificial island of Peberholm on the Danish side with the finishing line
at Malmö Stadion in Sweden.
